We’re in it together.

The Spiral Sessions was conceived by Sarah Sea Clarke, Dana Dajani & Marwan Ali Ghunaim, as a collaborative structured program to explore difficult global topics in a safe space. It is a form of group work presented for the epochal times of the 21st century.

Inspired by a Digital Talking Circles training with the Four Worlds International Institute, and largely informed by Joanna Macy’s ‘Work That Reconnects’, the Spiral Sessions integrates a wealth of wisdom from diverse modalities in order to respond to the present moment with power, and collectively build the future.

The sessions are run either online or in person across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This course is for facilitators, change-makers, educators, students, environmentalists, tech professionals, corporates, cultural institutions, government organisations, NGOs and more.

The 6-stage Spiral process is curated around a main theme, such as: Power Privilege and Race, Political Normalization, Environmental Action, Gender Inequality, Sustainable Futures, Embodiment and Healing, and others.

Through the Spiral Sessions you can expect to:

  • Learn the principles and participate in Talking Circles

  • Develop a deeper understanding of: justice, spiritual and social ecology, agency and autonomy, the power of community

  • Develop skills in communicating and expressing through a range of exercises for individual and group sharing

  • Cultivate authentic and holistic responses to personal and universal crises • Deepen your support networks by connecting with allies and comrades in your mission

  • Harvest experience and wisdom from the group and facilitators

  • Keep a reflective journal practice throughout the duration of the Spiral

  • Begin, or continue, a journey of integration as an interconnected, interdependent, inseparable self

🌱 WHY COMPOSTING PAIN? 🌱

In the light of the current global crises of environmental breakdown, war, famine and COVID, the last year has been undoubtedly tough for many of us.

As we try to keep our spirits high, we are collectively holding a lot of pain. We might often feel alone, scared to voice our grievances, worried people will not understand or label us as heavy. So we keep it in….

Sadness, pain, fear and anger are all feelings that are part of life, yet often neglected until a point of overwhelm.

What doesn’t transform, transfers. Rather than transferring our garbage onto the world, we want to make compost and turn it into nourishing soil.

💌 OUR INVITATION 💌

As part of our global society, we (Melissa and Sarah) invite you to join together in honouring the pain you feel for the world. Through a simple structure we will guide you in a ritual adapted from Joanna Macy’s, the Truth Mandala, where...

✳️ We’ll sit together, hear and see each other

✳️ We address the question ‘What pains me within my personal realm and the realities around me?’

✳️ You are welcome as you are! Everything is welcome here

✳️ We can share what weighs us down, all the blemishes of our thoughts, feelings and the unspoken can be put to the compost

🖊️ REGISTRATION 🖊️

In order to create a safe and contained space where we can really hear and be present for each other we have limited the group size and request for participants to pre-register.

Each Month we will send out an invite to those on the list.

We welcome a donation for the work we are sharing, and equally nobody will be turned away for lack of funding.
